MR. DAHABA SANNA (BOARD -PRESIDENT).
Mr. Dahaba Sanna is a professional justice educator and Project Planning and Management expert who was recently redeployed and appointed by the Government The Gambia as Executive Director of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA). He has a great experience in justice, education and legal aid, pro-poor development programmes, project management and administration.
He holds MSc in Project Planning and Management, obtained from University of Bradford, UK (2005). Whilst in the UK, Mr. Dahaba served as Principal of Yorkshire College, responsible for the day-to-day management of the college. His work at the college, among others, involved planning and implementing all academic programmes. He previously served as the Executive Secretary- National Agency for Legal Aid (NALA), the deputy chief executive secretary of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Secretariat (ADRS)
He had once worked with the European Development Fund on decentralization and governance issues, coordinated the DFID funded legal capacity building project and served as the permanent secretary Office of the President, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Agriculture respectively. He has also worked closely with communities in identifying development needs and prepared project proposals and budgets for technical support to community-based projects.
MRS. DANDEH JABBIE HADDY (BOARD VICE-PRESIDENT).
Mrs. Haddy Dandeh Jabbie is a skilled litigation attorney with extensive experience and expertise in diverse areas of the law, including product liability, insurance coverage, legal malpractice, real estate, alternate dispute resolution, construction and Human Rights. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) obtained from Bournemouth University from 1994 – 1998, Master of Laws (LLM) obtained from the University of Westminster from 1999 – 2000. She was called to the Gambian Bar in 1999 and Licensed to practice law in The Gambia by the General Legal Council in 2000.
She served as a Legal Practitioner with one of the most outstanding law firms in The Gambia, Amie Bensouda & Co from 2001 – Dec 2009. She is presently the HR Manager, legal Department of Comium Company Limited, The Gambia, from 2010-Date. She has served as President of the Female Lawyers Association-Gambia (FLAG), 2016 – 2016. She has attended a series of internationally sponsored training on Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and she is a Certified Trainer of trainees as ADR expert.
MR. TOURAY THOMAS FUAD (BOARD MEMBER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Thomas Fuad Touray is a Human Rights Lawyer and International legal educator with particular expertise on the African human rights system and Public International Law. He has been working with Regional and global Non-Governmental Organizations for over thirteen years. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Master of Laws (LLM) and presently pursuing (LLD) Doctor of Laws in Public International Law.
He was elected in 2014 as Executive Director of The West African Institute for Legal Aid where he chaired the committee that drafted the documents leading to the grating of Observer Status to The West African Institute for Legal Aid (WAILA) during the 57th Ordinary Session of The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR), held from 4-18 November, 2015, in Banjul, The Gambia.
He is presently serving as a legal adviser in West Africa and a member of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) at the International Detention Coalition (IDC). From 14-15 December, 2016, he represented WAILA at the DRC-Alternatives to Detention (2) Workshop organized by the International Detention Coalition (IDC), the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), Mixed Migration Working group, IOM, UNHCR, European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department (ECHO) and the UN agencies including UNSMIL.
On the 6th May, 2017, he was elected as pioneered committee member leading to the grating of Special Accreditation to WAILA to the United Nations General Assembly S-UNGA Preparatory Process Global Compact for Migration.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, has recently issued a letter of accreditation to Mr. Touray to share his expertise at the 8th session of the UN Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights; to be held from 25-27 November 2019, Geneva (Switzerland). Also, he has been approved for the OHCHR – OHCHR Accountability and Remedy Project III Consultation
MR. KAMARA MORLAI R. KELVIN BOARD MEMBER- DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION)
Mr. Kamara Morlai R. Kelvin is a professional certified arbitrator and a justice, education expert, presently serving as the principal of the Brikama Methodist Academy, The Gambia from 2007- date. He holds a Bachelor of engineering obtained from Fourah Bay College-(FBC), University of Sierra Leone. He has served as a professor of Civil Engineering at Technical Institute –Congo-Cross, Freetown, Sierra Leone from 1976-1979, lecturer of Engineering Science and Workshop Technology at Freetown Trade Centre, Kissy Dock Yard from 1992-1993, Statistics and Pure Maths lecturer at the Institute of Continuing Education, Kanifing, The Gambia from 1995-1996, principal, Archdeacon Mathias George Memorial School, Old Jeswang, The Gambia, from 1998-2007. He has participated in a series of professional trainings; including, Arbitration, mediation and promotion and protection of human rights. He is a co-founder and Chairman, Board of Directors of The West African Foundation for the Advancement of Education (WEFAE) from 2012-date.

Chief Executive and Co-Founder of AU Watch
Dr Feyi Ogunade was previously a Senior Legal Advisor at the African Union leading work on the promotion and protection of human rights in Africa. In his 30 years as a (motivational) speaker, journalist, human rights activist, political commentator, international lawyer, university lecturer, fundraiser, and consultant,
Feyi has taken CSOs of all sizes to new heights – and earned an international reputation for excellence in the process. Feyi serves on several company boards and advisory committees for non-profit organizations, and is actively involved in numerous development initiatives across Africa.
Through his work as a Coach and Mentor / Consultant and Advisor / Teacher and Trainer, he has worked to empower leaders, change-makers, and advocates. He has over 30 years hands-on experience in social justice issues, championing and transforming the rights and lives of courageous individuals and communities, via NGOs, non-profits and community-based organisations, academia, the private sector, international organisations such as the AU and UN, social entrepreneurship, and independent consulting. He is an experienced and accomplished speaker, writer, management and fundraising consultant and trainer with an entrepreneurial flair. He offers a unique combination of practical and theoretical experience in the voluntary and private sectors having specialised in international human rights / humanitarian law, journalism and international relations.
Feyi is an experienced journalist and was Deputy Editor of a daily tabloid, ‘The New Shaft’ newspaper in Sierra Leone. He was also a sports and current affairs producer and presenter at the Atlantic Broadcasting Corporation (ABC FM) FM radio station. He also ran the public relations offices of the West African Examinations Council and the University of Sierra Leone. Feyi is a founding member of Amnesty International, Sierra Leone and was a Member of the Board for many years. As Senior Legal Advisor Officer (Promotion) & Special Assistant to the Chairperson of the African Commission, his task at the African Commission was to provide the Commission with a pro-active integrated approach of promoting and protecting human rights in Africa, including disseminating human rights information, designing and delivering country and regional human rights projects, researching and organising human rights events and campaigns. He provided the African Union specific advice on advocacy, media and promotion matters relating to human rights, including developing and maintaining effective partnerships and relations at the regional and municipal levels with governmental officials, political actors, civil society, regional actors, and organisations, and the wider AU and UN system. As head of the legal team at the African Commission, Feyi supervised the writing of some of the leading cases at the African Commission.
His international legal consulting practice focuses on international human rights, public international law, international relations, development, gender, advocacy, and lobbying. In his consulting, advising and mentoring work, he works with a wide array of organisations and individuals many of them in regional and international human rights and humanitarian organisations. His clients include lawyers and policy advisors to organizations, project and program managers, and staff at all levels of UN, NGOs and National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs), and range in levels of experience from aspiring and wanna-be world-changers and current interns, to managers and directors.
Feyi is passionate about nourishing and connecting regional change-makers seeking to establish or deepen their careers in the international sector, particularly in human rights, advocacy, international law and international affairs. He loves to help current and aspiring leaders develop their full potential.
Feyi is an experienced pig and chicken farmer and has established one of the largest pig and chicken farm in West Africa – Farm Aphrika. Farm Aphrika is a social enterprise with the goal of practically transforming change and inspiring and empowering African farmers and entrepreneurs to contribute in ending Africa’s vicious cycle of hopelessness, helplessness, hunger and poverty.
In 2012 he was awarded the Farmer of the Year Award from the Association of Pig Breeders for major long-term contributions in the field, especially his contributions in helping to alleviate poverty in West Africa. Feyi and the staff at Farm Aphrika are motivated by the scale of social injustice in Africa (mostly self-inflicted), and by our belief that agriculture is three times more effective in reducing or even eliminating poverty and privation. Feyi is also a playwright, poet and director.
MR. TOURAY MOHAMMED A (BOARD MEMBER)
Mr. Touray Mohammed is a professional educationist, presently, serving as Head of Department and lecturer of Agricultural Science at Daddy Jobe Comprehensive School, The Gambia from 2012-date. He has been serving as an Examiner of Agricultural Science, on the West African examination Council from 1998 to date. He has participated in a series of professional trainings; including, Arbitration, mediation and promotion and protection of human rights. He is a co-founder and Chairman, Board of Directors of The West African Foundation for the Advancement of Education (WEFAE) from 2012-date. He is also a co-founder and of The West African Human Rights Defenders Network (The Gambia).
MRS. KAMARA MARIE TITY (BOARD MEMBER)
Mrs. Marie Tity Kamara is a professional Counsellor and Consultant to women and children with broken homes and stress eradication Management. She is a co-founder and Board Member to The West African Foundation for the Advancement of Education (WEFAE) from 2013-date. She has also ample experience in management, programme planning and execution and cultivating partnerships with relevant institutions across Africa.
MRS. NORMAN, NADET VIDA (BOARD MEMBER)
Mrs. Norman, Nadet Vida is an expert on the rights of women and children with extensive experience and excellent research and writing skills. She is a co-founder and Vice- Chair, Board of Directors of The West African Foundation for the Advancement of Education (WEFAE) from 2013-date. She holds a Diploma in Applied Programming and Word Perfect, obtained from Institute of Public Administration and Management, University of Sierra Leone from 1989- 1990, Diploma in Private Secretarial Duties, obtained from College of Professional Management in 1994. She had served as Data Entry Operator, PLAN International Sierra Leone from 1991 – 1994, Administrative Assistant/Executive Secretary to the Field Director, PLAN International, Freetown, Sierra Leone from 1994 – 1998, Consular Assistant to the Honorary Consul of the Netherlands in the Gambia from 2000-2013, Office Manager/Legal Secretary at Jainaba Bah-Sambou & Associates, Barristers & Solicitors in 2013.
MR. AZEEZ OLADAPO YUSUF (BOARD MEMBER AND COUNTRY DIRECTOR) (NIGERIA CHAPTER)
Mr. Yusuf Azeez Oladapo is a Human Rights Lawyer and a professional entrepreneur having invested and established in several companies i.e ; A. A Consortium (Gambia) Limited, Big Apple (Gambia) Limited, Prudential Financial Services (Gambia) Limited, and Shaida & Sons International Limited. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) obtained from The University of The Gambia. He was called to the Nigerian Bar and licensed to practice law in 2015. He is a skilled litigation attorney with extensive experience and expertise in diverse areas of the law, including Commercial Law, criminal justice system, dispute resolution and Human Rights.
He has served a series of voluntary positions; including; a student committee membership of the International Bar Association 2011-2012, a member of the Students Committee that established The University of The Gambia Law Clinic, in 2012 and President of The University of The Gambia Law Students Association (UTGLSA) in 2012. MR. LEGENJU VITALISE NKEMNGONG (BOARD MEMBER AND REGIONAL COORDINATOR (SOUTHERN AND NORTHERN AFRICA)
Mr. LEGENJU VITALISE NKEMNGONG is a Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Courts of The Gambia and Cameroon with over 7 years’ experience working with Non-Governmental Organizations and other related fields; as a Paralegal Staff, Legal Consultant, Law Lecturer, Human Rights Advocate, State Counsel, Anti-corruption crusader. In 2012 he graduated at The Gambia Law School as the Most Outstanding Lawyer and was accordingly called to The Gambian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor. He attended the University of Buea, Cameroon from Sept 2006 to Dec 2009) and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Honours). From UB, he attended a program at: “Dynamic Wealth-Pretoria South Africa (Oct 2010-feb 2011)” an Export Orientation training programme.
He is a SENIOR PARTNER at VERITAS Law Offices, P.O Box 246, Buea-Cameroon (January 2016 – Present). He served as a State Counsel at the Attorney General’s Chambers & Ministry of Justice Gambia (Jan 2013 – January 2016), where he was Deputy Focal Person in charge of Child’s Right Unit of the Ministry of Justice-The Gambia. He was one of the Facilitators in Charge of educating Gambian Security Agencies on the Various National and International Human Rights Instruments and above all he was designated Focal Legal Adviser for the Gambian Ministry of Interior (Representing the Attorney General). He is the Legal Officer of the Public Interest Litigation and Advocacy Centre-Cameroon (October, 2017 – Present). Since 27th September, 2017 he was appointed Lead Counsel for The FAKLA PRO-BONO TASKFORCE that is providing free Legal representation for all those arrested as a result of the Anglophone Crisis within Fako Division.

Mr. Manga Almameh. S is a Human Rights Lawyer and a professional Police officer serving in The Gambia Police Force under the Prosecutions and Legal Affairs Unit. He has extensive experience and expertise in high profile criminal prosecutions and legal advisory. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) obtained from The University of The Gambia, Diploma in Law, Diploma in Peace & Conflict Studies, Diploma in Information and Communications Technology, and presently pursuing a Master of Laws (LLM) in Human Rights and Criminal Justice, in the United Kingdom

MR. JANNEH GIBAIRU (BOARD MEMBER)
Mr. Janneh Gibairu is a Media Practitioner and Programme Manager/ Development Specialist of the Center for Media and Development Research in Africa (CenMEDRA). He has extensive experience and expertise in media reporting and human rights. He holds a BA (Honours) in Development Studies obtained from The University of The Gambia, 2007 – 2011, Master of Science (MSc) in Applied International Development obtained from The University of Reading under the Chevening Scholarships, United Kingdom, 2015-2016. He has served as the News Editor of Observer Company Gambia Limited from 2008 – 2012, Executive Director of Gambia Press Union from 2012 – Aug 2015.
He has served a series of voluntary positions; including; Information and Public Relations Officer of The University of The Gambia Students Union (UTGSU) in 2007, member of University of The Gambia Debating Association in 2010 and a Panel Member of CSSI Panel- Member of the Civil Society Sustainability Index Panel in 2011.

Mr. Ukpong Frederick is a professional management Consultant, specializing in organization development, psychologist, counselor and Consultant in stress eradication and Management. He is the Head of Department and Coordinator, Banking and Finance at the Management Development Institute from 2009 – date. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) obtained from The University of The Gambia, MHRM degree, Human Resource Management obtained from Atlantic International University from 2010 – 2012, Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Employment Studies & Human Resource Management obtained from Irish University Business School, UK. He has served as a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management (ABE&ICM Courses) at The Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI), The Gambia from 2002 – Jun 2004. He has delivered lectures on Human Resource Management, organizational, Behaviour, Management and Marketing at The West African German Project (Bremen Clinic) The Gambia from 2000 – 2002.

Mr. Yakasai Ma`aruf Mohammed is a skilled litigation attorney with extensive experience and expertise in diverse areas of the law, including, criminal justice system, clinical legal education, Commercial Law, dispute resolution and Human Rights. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) obtained from Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria from 1997 – 2002, BL, from the Nigerian Law School from 2002 – 2003. He was called to the Nigerian Bar and licensed to practice law in 2003.He is presently a partner to NassarawaMu`azzam&Co Legal Practitioners Kano from 2003 to date and Principal Solicitor Prestige Solicitors& Associates from 2009 to date. Mr. Sadaa Mohammed Mohammed is a professional educationist with extensive experience and expertise linguistics, organizational development, psychologist, counsellor and Consultant in education. He was elected Board Member and regional coordinator of the Middle East of The West African Institute for Legal Aid (WAILA) from February, 201- date). He holds a Bachelor degree in languages from AL-Maaref University College from 2009-2014, Masters degree (MA ) in Linguistics from Suleyman Demirel University from 2015-2017. He has been a professional lecturer in English language and other languages.
(WAILA 16) MS. ROSAS MARYCRUZ GONZALEZ (BOARD MEMBER AND REGIONAL COORDINATOR ) (LATIN AMERICA)
Ms. Marycruz González Rosas is a skilled litigation attorney with extensive experience and expertise in diverse areas of the law, including, criminal justice system, clinical legal education, Commercial Law, dispute resolution, Human Rights, disability rights, immigration law, Administrative Law and she co-worked with Forensic Sciences, Psychology and Social Work faculties in multidisciplinary teams in difficult cases from the Human Rights Program of National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
She was elected Board Members and Regional Coordinator of Latin America at The West African Institute for Legal Aid (WAILA) from February 2018 – date.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from June 2009 – June 2014, Postgraduate degree as a Specialist in Criminal Law in June 2016 both, from National Autonomous University of Mexico campus Fes Acatlán.
She had served as a volunteer attorney as strategic litigation of Human Rights, Legal Action Clinic, with the Human Rights Program at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 2017.
She has participated in a series of professional trainings; including Arbitration, mediation, promotion and protection of human rights and one of the local organizers of the 9th Worldwide Global Alliance for Justice Conference, held in Mexico from 5- 12 December 2017 on the campuses of Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) campus Puebla City and Autonomous University of Tlaxcala in Tlaxcala City Mexico.
(WAILA 17) MR. SESAY ABDULAI: BOARD MEMBER AND REGIONAL DIRECTOR DEPARTMENT OF (ICT) (WEST AFRICA)
Mr. Abdulai Sesay is a professional Microsoft Certified System Associate, presently serving as Head of Department and lecturer of ICT at Muslim High School – Banjul. He is a skilled Cisco Certified Systems Administrator (CCNA) with extensive experience and expertise in diverse areas of ICT, including, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 (MCSA Server 2), MS Dos, Word perfect, Lotus 123, MS Word, MS Access, Desktop Publisher, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel. He holds a Higher Teachers Certificate (HTC) Secondary obtained from Milton Margai Teachers College, University of Sierra Leone from 1984 – 1987, presently a candidate of BSc in IT at the International Open University (IOU).
He is presently serving as a Member and Secretary to the School’s Senior Management Team, Member of the Academic Board, Member of the Disciplinary Committee, Chairman Social and fund raising committee, Head of School Councilors, Head of school counseling team, Head of First year students and Coordinator, school links of Muslim High School – Banjul.
He had conducted a series of ICT trainings, including, In-service Training Program on gender and development, ICT and capacity building, Training computer troubleshooting and maintenance, world link (World bank sponsored project) Phase II and IV training involving Tele-collaborative Learning projects and Innovation, Pedagogy and Technology and a Senior First Aid Instructor – Gambia Red Cross Society.
